答案:(1) M.A.K. Halliday has developed the theories proposed by Firth in the London School. His Systemic-Functional (SF) Grammar is a sociologically oriented functional linguistic approach, which is one of the most influential linguistic theories in the twentieth century, The characteristics of the theory are systemic and functional. It characterized Halliday's theory as more attention is paid to paradigmatic relations than to syntagmatic relations. And this is the main concern of Chomsky. What is new in Halliday is that he has tried to relate the functions of language to its structures. (2) Systemic-Functional Grammar is based on two facts: 1. language users actually are making choice in set of systems and trying to realize different semantic functions in social interactions 2. Language is inseparable from social activities of man. Thus, It takes actual uses (parole) of language as the object of study. One point to notice is that it takes clause as the basic unite. Systemic-Functional (SF) Grammar has two components: systemic grammar and functional grammar.
